Junya Watanabe Man


Junya Watanabe is a Japanese fashion designer who studied under Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo. A graduate of Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo in 1984, he began his career as a pattern maker at CDG. He was quickly promoted to the position of chief designer of the knitwear range, then of CDG Homme. He launched his own range under the name Junya Watanabe Comme des Garçons in 1993 and began appearing on fashion shows in Paris. Junya Watanabe, like his mentor, is recognized for his remarkable innovative avant-garde, his brilliant technical style in his experimentations with cutting-edge fabrics, his original tailoring and his intricate drapes.
